Shaving Razors - A Brief Introduction
Wet Shaving Razors - A Brief Introduction
At Executive Shaving we recommend shaving with a good quality double edged safety razor for a smooth, close, comfortable and economical shave.
However for teenagers and those with ultra-sensitive skin we may recommend a cartridge type razor, the Feather Neo in particular.
For more experienced wet shavers the unique joys of a traditional cut throat razor, or straight razor, is something to aim for.
If you have only used disposable cartridge razors, such as Gillette or Wilkinson Sword, we strongly suggest you use a double edged safety razor first for a few months, before trying a cut throat razor.
The Gillette ® Safety Razor was patented on November 15, 1904, by King C. Gillette. It took six years for Gillette's idea to evolve, but he eventually came up with the ingenious design, providing an entirely new razor and blade with a safe, inexpensive, and disposable blade. Today, manufacturers including Muhle, Merkur of Solingen, Parker, iKon, Above the Tie and Feather produce some of the finest safety razors in various sizes and metal finishes.
This method of shaving with a cut throat razor or straight razor is the most traditional and argued by some traditionalists as "The only way to shave". We stock a great selection of the worlds finest traditional cut throat shaving razors from Thiers Issard, Revisor, Muhle and Dovo some brand new, some shave ready, restored vintage razors.
Shaving with a Straight Razor, or Cut Throat requires a skilled shaving technique and frequent stropping and occassional honing.
If you are looking for something a little bit different then we recommend you check out the OneBlade razor. Launched on Executive Shaving in July 2018, the OneBlade has become a favourite of ours and is perhaps the best razor in the world.
With its unique floating blade technology and pivoting head, it delivers perfect results with minimum effort.
