Natural Sponges

Natural Sea SpongeImitation, man-made sponges work reasonably well, but since using a Crolle and Denecke natural sea sponge, my man-made, synthetic bath sponge has been added to my car's washing bucket, as I'll NEVER go back to bathing with a non-natural sponge again!

When I was a boy, my parents always made sure I used real, natural sponges, but as I grew up, I tended to jump in the shower, rather than the bath and used shower gel for the sake of getting in and out of the shower quickly. As I have "matured", I have grown to appreciate the pleasure that a long soak in the bath can bring - particularly as I can now take my ipad into the bath with me and catch up with the News or sport whilst soaking.

I have graduated from cheap shower gel to quality bath soap; I'm currently using Arran Aromatics Driftwood Soap, which is fabulous and great value for money. To get a really good, creamy lather, I invested in a Crolle and Denecke natural sea sponge and it has proved to be one of my favourite purchases this year. Combined with a good bath soap, my natural sponge lathers-up beautifully and it feels great on my skin.

Green Credentials

Natural sponges are skin friendly and have anti-bacterial properties, so they are particularly good for babies, young children and people with sensitive skin issues.

Sea Sponges also have green credentials, as they have the ability to start regenerating as soon as they are harvested. A natural sponge is also 100% bio-degradable, which can't be said of man-made sponges.

After use, you need only gently squeeze your sponge and leave it on the side to dry naturally. Over zealous wringing out of a real sponge can damage it, as it's a natural product and it should never be boil washed. If you feel your natural sponge needs freshing up, you can wash it in the washing machine at 20 to 30 degrees, but I have to be honest, I have now had my sponge for six months and I've never felt the need to stick it in the washing machine, as it always smells fresh and clean and it looks and works as well as it did the first time I used it.

Crolle and Denecke

I was so impressed with my natural sponge, that we have made them available to Executive Shaving customers, together with Crolle and Denecke's luxury range of Bath Brushes. Why not treat yourself to a luxury sponge, or buy one as a gift for a loved one - I'm confident that you won't regret it.
