Barberia Shaving Cream
Executive Shaving are delighted to announce that we now offer Barberia luxury shaving cream. Agua de Colonia Barberia is a sophisticated shaving cream, designed and manufactured by Alvarez Gomez, in Spain.
"Agua de Colonia" translates to "Water of Cologne", or Eau de Cologne as it's more commonly known. Barberia means "Barber", so in English we would call it Barber's Cologne Shaving Cream.
It's not surprising that the Barberia shaving cream has an Eau de Cologne prefix, as Alvarez Gomez is the oldest perfumery in Spain, dating back to 1899. The company's most famed product, Concentrada de Colonia, (Concentrated Cologne), has long been a top seller in the luxury shaving marketplace.
The Barberia Shaving Cream Experience
You remove the lid of the Barberia jar, to be hit with an unmistakable fragrance comprising of citrus top notes of bergamot, lemon, bitter orange and ginger, resting on a base of woody notes of cedar and sandalwood, tinged with white musk.
The shaving cream, at first glance, would appear to have the consistency of wallpaper paste, which wasn't what I expected. However, on dropping a pinky load into my lathering bowl and lathering up with my favourite badger brush, it changed into a deep, rich, creamy lather, that when applied by my brush, gave me a rich, thick coating on my face.
I found that the cream allowed for a superior razor glide and give me a good quality shave at first pass. I lathered up a second time anyway, as a pinky-load was more than enough for more than one shave and was over the moon with the final result.
I noticed that the fragrance grew stronger when lathered and after a very satisfying shave, my face felt smooth and fresh and the orangy-woody aroma lasted well after the shave had been completed. I also noticed no sign of any razor burn or rash, which can sometimes happen when I use a shaving cream that I haven't tried before.
Barberia is a Luxury shaving cream, and contains natural extracts, including Aloe Vera and Rose Muscat Oil, which are ideal to prevent rash and burn, even with sensitive skin. In terms of quality, I would say that it gets 8.5 out of 10, putting it up there with Trumper, Castle Forbes, Fitjar and Truefitt & Hill and it is great value for a jar of 200mls. I would thoroughly recommend it to our customers.
