A high quality German razor that will make shaving a pleasure. The 34C is fantastic value for money and it never fails to delight.
Knurled handle for good grip.
Handle Length: 75mm
Handle Diameter: 11mm
The 34c is often also called the 34cHD, HD standing for Heavy Duty, it is only heavy duty when compared to Merkur's other top seller the small size 33c. There is nothing heavy duty about the 34c.
Metal alloy with shiny chrome plating
HOW TO USE
It's the top seller because it's the best razor ever made simple!
Easy to use, smooth shaver, peerless.
Excellent razor, aggressive yet gentle and great for a baby bum smooth shave with a Feather blade.
I have used this razor to change from the mach3 type because I wanted a good solid metal razor without any plastic bits that soften and rot. I was also annoyed at the cost of the blades and wanted a greater choice of blade manufacturer.
This razor is certainly solid metal. It's well finished and competent but I don't like the balance. The handle is short and the weight for two fingers and a thumb can feel cumbersome. I would prefer a longer handle at this weight for better control. One week in and I would like to try another type.
Had one of these years ago but damaged it beyond repair. After 15 years with a Mach3 I thought I would give them ago again. After my first shave tonight I cannot believe I have wasted 15 years on Any other type. The cut is true and smooth the skin is left silky smooth and the quality feels first class. Why would you try anything else?
My first safety razor, after 3 weeks of using it, I can't see me ever going back to multi -blade disposibles. I actualy enjoy shaving again, the Merkur 34C feels great and requires no pressure when shaving.
It's a little piece of art!
The daddy. Faultless.
My first ever DE razor and I'm never going back. I bought this with an eshave starter kit and I'm completely hooked.
I've tried many multi-blades in the past from several companies and they were all just varying degrees of average. This beats them hands down.
At first I was worried there wouldn't be any weight. I was previously using a Fusion Styler model for some added grip and weight but the 34C, although small feels very sturdy.
Overall, this product won't let you down.
This beautiful razor is a winner, simply because it looks retro, harking back to the glory days of long ago. Now if you could buy this same razor with the butterfly mechanism, I am sure it would reach iconic status & in the world of new modern de razors this beauty would never be beaten. Ever....
Bought this last week after damaging somehow my previous DE razor - a much more expensive one too. This Merker is fantastic! Superior to anything else I have tried. OK perhaps the handle is shorter than I might want but growing accustomed already. The head (if that is the correct word) is comfortable. Using Feather blades I find an excellent shave with this razor. If you are thinking about switching to Safety Razors definitely go for this! At this excellent price too!!
I have purchased a 34C for my fiancé who loves it and later bought a gift for his father's 50th birthday. In both circumstances the service was excellent in every way and I received quick responses to my enquiries.
Opted for this razor on the strength of the recommendations of it being a good entry level razor for my first foray back into the world of DE razors. And who could argue with that? A high standard of finish, that you would expected from a name such as Merkur, is of course evident. The two piece construction plays into the beginners category by making it a very easy razor to load with your blade of choice, which could be just about any as the 34c has performed equally well pretty much regardless of blade choice. This in turn points to it offering a forgiving shave, again giving way to the good entry level label. The weight & balance of the 34c is spot on, some may feel that the handle length is slightly on the short side, but for me does make it an ideal size for a travel razor, and travelling quite extensively the 34c is still probably my most used razor and with the best part of 200 shaves under its belt still looks like new. If you’re only looking to own one razor this would have to be a serious contender.
Fantastic quality product, handle may be a little short for those with large hands but that's not a problem to me. I have always used straight razors for last 14 years but for travel felt I needed something different. I mixed this with feather blades and the shave was so close and comfortable. The razor is well balanced. I will be recommending this to my mates down the pub on Friday.
