Large Silvertip Badger Hair Shaving Brush Comparisons

We have had some great feedback from customers who have purchased our large silvertip badger hair shaving brushes. Given some of the comments received we decided to see just how good our brushes are compared to some similar brushes available from more familiar brands.

For this comparison we picked our two Big Jock silvertip badger hair shaving brushes and compared them to the only other similar sized large brushes we stock, two from Taylor of Old bond Street and two from Simpsons Shaving Brushes.

In the table below are the dimensions of Knot Diameter, Bristle Length, Total Brush Length, Handle Material and Price of all six brushes, so you can easily compare them.

As you can see all six brushes feature large brush knots of approx. 30mm, making them all very big shaving brushes. This large size means they easily lather up shaving soaps, creams or gels with ease. They also prepare the skin for shaving very well too.
The bristles of each brush are the highest grade available – Silvertip. Silvertip Badger hair is super soft on the face and has excellent heat and water retention properties, which all helps you to create that perfect shaving lather.

Our Classic Large Horn handled brush features a longer bristle length which makes it ideal for bowl lathering, the Fake Horn Handled brush is slightly shorter, which makes the brush more compact. All the brushes featured have longer bristles than you would find from most mid-ranged shaving brushes.

The main difference between the brushes is price, with both Simpson’s brushes selling for over £200, and the Taylor of Old Bond Street brushes selling for over £100. In contrast our own brushes sell for only £75 and £65. How do we manage that? We sourced these shaving brushes from the same manufacturer who supplies the more well-known companies with their brushes, to ensure the same quality and by buying in bulk we can offer you these great prices.

Bought after speaking to Executive Shaving who recommended this brush, I was going to buy a Taylor of Bond Street at over £100 and I am so glad I didnt as this brush has exceeded all expectations. It looks fantastic, it sits in the hand nicely and I have never known a brush to lather up shaving soap so easily yet be so soft on the face.
