Apex Arkansas Honing Stone for Open Razors Fine Grit
The honing stone / whetstone is used for honing (sharpening) the edge of the blade when it dulls, this is an essential part of your cut throat razor maintenance kit.
Ideal for sharpening razors, surgical instruments, knives cutlery and craft tools.
You should thoroughly soak the the honing stone prior to honing and frequently re-soak during the honing process.
Note that after honing and fine refinement of the edge of the blade, stropping with a hanging leather and canvas strop is still required prior to shaving.
The base of this whetstone has a strip of rubber glued on it - this ensures that the stone cannot slip on your work surface. Additionally it lifts the stone off the work surface by approx 5 mm which is a great assist when sharpening an open razor.
