The honing stone is used for honing (sharpening) the edge of the blade when it dulls. Therefore an essential part of your cut throat razor maintenance kit.

Simply wet the honing stone side prior to honing.

Note that after honing and fine refinement of the edge of the blade, stropping with a hanging leather and canvas strop is still required prior to the shave.
